A simple utility to test the hard drive.
SCSIMax is a diagnostic utility for all Maxtor or Quantum SCSI hard drive supports Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART).
These tests will determine hard drive integrity in a short time, by providing valid information. If the program is completed without error, the problem remains elsewhere in the system. Check the SCSI cables, termination and operating systems.
Seagate recommends using this utility for troubleshooting potential hard drive problems. These problems include, but are not limited to: potential hard drive surface media problems (eg, bad clusters or sectors, partitioning or formatting problems, etc.) and the problem of detection of the drive (eg hard drive is not detected by the operating system).
SCSIMax using the SCSI controller's ASPI driver to route orders to the hard drive INT 13. The utility is not data destructive, but Seagate recommends fatherly completing a full copy of the hard drive before running this utility.
